A call for papers is now open for the sixth edition of the archaeological conference “Poles in the Near East”. The event will be held online from June 8th to 10th 2022.
The conference is co-organized by the Polish Centre of Mediterranean Archaeology, University of Warsaw, and the Department of Oriental Archaeology, Faculty of Archaeology, University of Warsaw. Presentations on issues related to archaeological research, conservation work and the protection and promotion of cultural heritage in an area stretching from Cyprus through South-West Asia to the Caucasus are invited. A special panel on marbles is also planned: “Marble use, trade and distribution in the Eastern Mediterranean during Late Antiquity”.
The conference started as a review of current Polish fieldwork and study work related to the region in question. As it moved online in 2021, it took on a more international character. Many foreign collaborators of Polish projects, as well as researchers working on similar issues were able to particpiate. As most papers were presented in English, they reached a wide and international audience. The organizers hope to maintain this trend during the current edition.
