New management of the PCMA UW Research Centre in Cairo

At the latest meeting of the PCMA UW Council on April 30th, 2024, changes in the management of the PCMA UW Research Centre in Cairo were approved. The duties of the head of the Centre were entrusted to Tomasz Kania. At the same time, we thank the outgoing Prof. Anna Wodzińska for carrying out this function since 2020.

Tomasz Kania is an Arabist. He was previously associated with PCMA UW between 2014 and 2017, when he worked at the Research Centre in Cairo. He has extensive experience in management, including as head of foreign posts. As a humanitarian worker, he worked with Polish and international organizations in Lebanon, Yemen, where he established a humanitarian mission, Ukraine, and Poland, where he was responsible for running regional offices.

The PCMA UW Research Centre in Cairo was established in 1959 by Prof. Kazimierz Michałowski. Its mission is to provide support to Polish scientists and students conducting research in Egypt, and to build the capacity of Polish research in the region, particularly in the Nile Valley.
