Call for Papers: PAM Journal issue on Upper Nile Pottery Studies

Call for papers for the next thematic fascicle of “Polish Archaeology in the Mediterranean” on Upper Nile Pottery Studies. It will focus on pottery from the Thebaid, the Eastern and Western Deserts, and the frontier zone between Upper Egypt and Lower Nubia from the Hellenistic to the Early Islamic period.

The editor of this issue is Jerzy M. Oleksiak from the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School and the Polish Centre of Mediterranean Archaeology, University of Warsaw. The publication will appear as a thematic fascicle of an upcoming volume of PAM, scheduled for the second half of 2025.

This includes research on ceramic assemblages dating from the 3rd century BCE to the 10th century CE and settlements maintaining connections with this region. Fresh methodological approaches, petrographic studies, economic and consumption studies, as well as reports on new kiln sites and local pottery production are of particular interest. Researchers with projects or studies falling within these topics are encouraged to submit their work for consideration.

The deadline for submitting papers is 13th December 2024.
