Habilitation degree for Artur Obłuski

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Artur Obłuski has received his postdoctoral degree. The decision was taken unanimously by the Council of the Discipline of Archaeology of the University of Warsaw on September 23, 2020.

Prof. Artur Obłuski is the director of the Polish Centre of Mediterranean Archaeology of the University of Warsaw. In 2015–2020, he headed the PCMA UW Research Centre in Cairo. His scientific interests focus on Nubiology, particularly on Nubian monasticism. For several years he has been conducting archaeological research and heritage management projects in Sudan, heading PCMA UW expeditions in Ghazali and Dongola, for which he obtained grants from the National Science Center and QASAP. In 2017, he received an ERC Starting Grant for his project “UMMA – Urban Metamorphosis of the community of a Medieval African capital city”.
