Archaeological conference: Poles in the Near East 2017

The Director of the Polish Centre of Mediterranean Archaeology, University of Warsaw, Prof. Tomasz Waliszewski, the Director of the Institute of Archaeology, University of Warsaw, Prof. Krzysztof Jakubiak and the Director of the Department of Near Eastern Archaeology, Institute of Archaeology, University of Warsaw, Prof. Dariusz Szeląg have the pleasure of inviting to the Poles in the Near East 2017 conference.

The second edition of the conference on Polish archeological involvement in the broadly understood Near East will take place on the 25th and 26th of May 2017. This puts the event on the map of Polish archeological conferences, providing at the same time a much-needed addition to the decade-old Poles on the Nile conference.

The conference’s scope covers an area from the Mediterranean coast, through the Caspian Sea, down to the Arabian Gulf. Its chronological range is equally wide – from prehistory till the late Islamic Period. 30 presentations will tackle the results of excavations and surveys in 13 countries from the perspectives of not just archaeology, but also various associated fields: archaeozoology, archaeobotany, geology and art conservation, as well as site management and data presentation.
