The Department of African Studies is engaged with scientific research based on the results of fieldwork, laboratory and archival-library studies in the field of archaeology, history, conservation and related sciences concerning the areas of cultures and civilizations developing in Africa, with a particular focus on the northern coast of the continent, sub-Saharan Africa and the Horn of Africa, excluding Egypt.
