The discipline of archaeology at the University of Warsaw has once again been ranked in the top 100 in the world in the newly released QS World University Rankings 2023. This is the highest rank among all disciplines at the University of Warsaw. It has been the only one in Poland to maintain positions in the 51-100 range since last year, thanks in part to the work of the team of the Polish Centre of Mediterranean Archaeology.
Only three Polish universities are ranked in archaeology in the QS ranking. Besides the University of Warsaw, they are the Jagiellonian University in Krakow and the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan. Both were ranked in positions in the 151–200 range. Archaeology at the University of Warsaw is among just four disciplines practiced at Polish universities to make it into the top 100, along with agriculture and veterinary science at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences and performing arts at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music.
In this year’s QS World University Rankings 2023, the University of Warsaw was ranked 284, its highest position to date. It is also the top ranked university in Poland.
The QS World University Rankings is a classification of 1,000 world universities compiled since 2004 by Quacquarelli Symmonds.
