The PCMA UW Research Centre in Cyprus invites you to a hybrid lecture “European Knighthood: The Trace on Cyprus”, presented by Sergej Dumbadze and Igor Bobrovsky.
The lecture will explore the emergence and development of knighthood in medieval Europe and the role played by knightly orders. Particular attention will be given to the arrival of European knights in Cyprus and the lasting traces they left in the island’s history and cultural heritage.
The speakers will also discuss the beginnings of European fencing traditions, including the earliest known fencing manuals, selected combat techniques, and elements of knightly arms and equipment.
