Agnieszka Szulc-Kajak (PCMA UW) has been awarded the Small Grant Award by the Honor Frost Foundation. With this funding, she will carry out archaeometric analysis of fishing gear from Porphyreon.
The implementation of this project is one of the initial stages of the author’s broader research on Levantine fishing practices, which includes an analysis of fishing gear from various archaeological sites in Phoenicia. This research is conducted as part of a doctoral thesis entitled Craft – Net – Identity. Determinants and Specificity of Sea Fishing in the Levant (1st century BC – 7th century AD) carried out at the Doctoral School of Humanities of the University of Warsaw under the supervision of Professor Grzegorz Majcherek.
