Scholarship of the Minister of Education and Science for Dr. Robert Mahler

The Minister of Science and Higher Education has awarded scholarships to exceptional young scientists for the twentieth time. Among the recipients was Dr. Robert Mahler from the Polish Centre of Mediterranean Archaeology, University of Warsaw.

The scholarship is awarded to young scientists, i.e. persons without a doctoral degree or those who received a doctoral degree within the previous seven years, who have demonstrated significant achievements in their scientific activities. These include authoring a major publication, managing a research project or obtaining a foreign scholarship or internship abroad. This year, the scholarship was awarded to 228 young scholars, of which only two for researchers representing the discipline of archaeology.

Dr. Robert Mahler specializes in the archaeology/anthropology of death. He is the head of the ARCE grant project “Under the wings of an Archangel: Conservation work of wall paintings in the Church of the Archangel Gabriel in Naqlun” and the National Science Centre grant project “Muslim women in Fatimid Alexandria: Why did they die young?”. He is also the head of the Polish Archaeological Expedition to Naqlun.

Congratulations!
