Delegation from Yerevan State University visits the University of Warsaw

On March 4th, a meeting took place at the University of Warsaw between university authorities and a delegation from Yerevan State University (YSU) and the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia. During the event, an agreement was signed to establish cooperation between the University of Warsaw and Armenia’s largest university.

The meeting was held in the Golden Hall of the Kazimierzowski Palace on the UW campus at Krakowskie Przedmieście. The University of Warsaw was represented by, among others, Prof. Sambor Grucza, Vice-Rector for Cooperation and Human Resources. The Armenian side was represented by Dr. Mikayel Hovhannisyan, Vice-Rector for Development and Innovation at YSU, and Alexander Arzoumanian, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Poland.

The visit of the Yerevan State University delegation to the Polish Centre of Mediterranean Archaeology, University of Warsaw (PCMA UW) was part of the program related to the signing of the memorandum between both universities. The delegation, led by Dr. Mikayel Hovhannisyan, held a meeting with Prof. Artur Obłuski, Director of PCMA UW. During the discussions, the activities of PCMA UW in Armenia were presented, and opportunities for future cooperation between YSU and PCMA UW in the field of archaeology were explored.

The event was also attended by Dr. Mateusz Iskra, Head of the Department of Near Eastern Archaeology at PCMA UW, as well as representatives of the Faculty of Archaeology and the Faculty of Oriental Studies at UW. The meeting concluded with the signing of a general memorandum of cooperation between the University of Warsaw and Yerevan State University, opening new perspectives for joint research and academic projects.
