It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Dr. Rudolf de Jong, Director of the Netherlands-Flemish Institute in Cairo. His scholarly interests lay in the dialectology of the Arabic language, but he was formost a beloved figure, cherished by his friends and employees for his kindness and dedication.
