Online lecture by Dr. Matthew Adams on Abydos in Early Egypt

There is another chance to hear the lecture by Dr. Matthew Adams “More than a Valley of the Kings: Abydos in Early Egypt”. It will be held online as part of an event co-organized by the PCMA UW Research Centre in Cairo and the Department of Archaeology of Egypt and Nubia of the Faculty of Archaeology, University of Warsaw.

Abstract: “Sustained work on the Early Dynastic components of ancient Abydos over the last two decades has resulted in important new understandings of the nature of the site at the beginning of Egyptian history. The results of the New York University mission’s work in north Abydos at a series of enigmatic monumental constructions contemporary with the Abydos royal cemetery of Dynasties I and II, will be discussed, including the most recent discoveries at the north Abydos brewery.”

Dr. Matthew Adams (New York University, Institute of Fine Arts) specializes in the archaeology of Predynastic and Early Dynastic Egypt. He directs excavations at Abydos, one of the most important centers in Upper Egypt.

The lecture will be held online, on Tuesday, March 21st at 4:45 pm CET on the Google Meet platform: https://meet.google.com/ywk-trbn-jit
