We are pleased to announce that Dr. Grzegorz Majcherek, a longtime employee of the Polish Centre of Mediterranean Archaeology, University of Warsaw, has been awarded a habilitation degree. This decision was taken unanimously by the Council of the Discipline of Archaeology at the University of Warsaw on June 18, 2020.
Dr hab. Grzegorz Majcherek is the head of the PCMA UW expedition in Alexandria (since 2002) and in Palmyra (since 2010). He also participated in other PCMA UW projects in Egypt and Syria. IN 2001–2012 he was the deputy director of the PCMA UW.
His scientific interests focus on the classical period, not just on issues related to his research in Alexandria and Palmyra, but relevant to the wider Eastern Mediterranean region. He is a specialist in ceramics, especially Roman and Byzantine amphoras.
