The PCMA UW mission at Nea Paphos (Cyprus) has a new director: as of the beginning of September 2019 the function has been entrusted to Prof. Ewdoksia Papuci-Władyka. The previous director of the mission, Dr. Henryk Meyza from the Institute of Mediterranean and Oriental Cultures of the Polish Academy of Sciences, headed the mission for over a decade (2008–2019).
Prof. Papuci–Władyka is the head of the Department of Classical Archaeology at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. She specializes in the art and archaeology of Ancient Greece, Cyprus, Rome and Greek colonies. Her involvment in research in Cyprus goes back many years, and since 2011 she has been the leader of the Paphos Agora Project, a scientific program financed by the Polish National Science Centre grants Opus and Maestro.
