The Polish Centre of Mediterranean Archaeology, University of Warsaw, is announcing a call for applications for a postdoctoral researcher position in the project Kyriakós oíkos? Diachronic Conceptualization of Space and Function of Medieval Nubian Churches.
The position is open for candidates who have earned their doctoral degree in one of the following disciplines: archaeology, architecture, or art history, from an institution other than University of Warsaw, or who have completed at least a 10-month documented postdoctoral fellowship at such an institution and in a country different from the country where the PhD was awarded.
The project aims to carry out a comprehensive analysis of the form, function, and symbolism of church architecture in Medieval Nubia and to reassess existing theories concerning transformations in sacred architecture between the 6th and 14th centuries CE.
The project is funded by the National Science Centre of Poland (NCN) under the SONATA BIS 11 program and is carried out at the PCMA UW under the direction of Prof. Artur Obłuski.
