This academic year, the Archaeo-Oriental Studies Seminar will adopt a new format. The first session in this updated series will take place on Monday, October 7th, at 3 pm. The seminar will focus on exploring the term “Orient(alist).”
Starting this year, the meetings will feature a discussion focused on a single topic. The discussion will be preceded by presentations from two guest speakers, one representing the archaeological community and the other representing the Orientalist community. The topic of discussion will be “bad words” – that is, contentious terms in science.
The discussion will be initiated by Prof. Agata Bareja-Strarzyńska (the Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies) and Prof. Krzysztof Jakubiak (the head of the Department of Oriental Archaeology, Faculty of Archaeology).
The seminar will be held in the Library of Faculty of Oriental Studies at 69 Hoża Street at 3 pm.
