PCMA Scholarship in Egypt – additional recruitment

Due to the release of several places for PCMA Scholarship in Egypt (Stypendium CAŚ), we announce an additional call for the current academic year (until the end of 2022). The Polish Centre of Mediterranean Archaeology, University of Warsaw (PCMA UW) offers scholarships for scientists wishing to conduct research in Egypt. The scholarships have been awarded since the 1990s, with funds allocated by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA).

The application is open to all students and graduates of Polish universities, including academic staff, regardless of nationality. They need to present a research program related to the archaeology or history of Egypt or neighboring regions that will be evaluated by the Scholarship Committee. PCMA Scholarship holders will conduct their research in cooperation with the PCMA UW Research Centre in Cairo. Please note, however, that for this additional call there is no longer time to obtain new permissions to participate in PCMA expeditions work, i.e. for those who were not included in this year’s expedition lists. However, scholarships based on queries in Cairo libraries etc. can be implemented independently of permits.

This year’s scholarship is 2 000 PLN/month. The PCMA UW offers free accommodation in the lodgings of its Research Centre in Cairo as well as access to its facilities and services and support of its staff in Cairo. The scholarship holders will participate in scientific events in the RC Cairo, and can present the results of their research in a series of dedicated seminars.

Regulation on Granting Scholarships contains detailed information on the application process and criteria for awarding the scholarships. Applications for the scholarship must be made using the Application form.

Submissions should be sent to: pcma.stypendia@uw.edu.pl
The deadline for submitting applications is 10 January 2022.
