„Endangered Heritage. Syria and Iraq in the research of the Polish Centre of Mediterranean Archaeology”
31 March – 21 April 2016, Kazimierzowski Palace, University of Warsaw Main Campus
The exhibition organized by the PCMA in cooperation with the Kazimierz Michałowski Foundation presented the results of PCMA research in Iraq and Syria, on sites currently endangered by military activity. It also offered an overview of Polish archaeological investigations in this part of the Near East. The presentations conveyed the message that scenes of recent heritage destruction appearing on the media often pertain to the results of work by Polish archaeological teams. Some examples of the most precious heritage of Syria and Iraq exist today only in the scientific documentation that was made over the years by archaeologists. The presentation joins in the international effort for saving the endangered world heritage in Syria and Iraq.
