Mariusz Gwiazda appointed as PCMA UW Deputy Director

In April this year, Dr Mariusz Gwiazda was appointed Deputy Director for Field Projects at the Polish Centre of Mediterranean Archaeology, University of Warsaw.

In this role, he will oversee matters related to the organisation, safety, and strategic development of PCMA UW archaeological expeditions, including the coordination of field projects as well as the development of standards for field documentation and data archiving.

Dr Mariusz Gwiazda specialises in the archaeology of Late Antiquity in the eastern Mediterranean. For more than two decades, he has participated in PCMA UW archaeological projects in Lebanon and Egypt, where he served as fieldwork director and co-directed the Polish-American expedition at Berenike. He has also taken part in international archaeological expeditions in Turkey, Jordan, Syria, and Kuwait.
