Book launch: “Archaeology without makeup. Conversations” in the Research Centre in Cyprus

 The Research Centre in Cyprus of the Polish Centre of Mediterranean Archaeology, University of Warsaw, and the Polish Archaeological Institute at Athens, presents the book launch of Beata Kukiel-Vraila’s “Archaeology Without Makeup: Conversations”, dedicated to outstanding women scholars associated with the Polish Archaeological Institute at Athens.

The author – Secretary General and Cultural Coordinator of PAIA, journalist, and former Polish Radio correspondent in Greece and the Balkans – presents a series of interviews with distinguished women scholars associated with the Polish Archaeological Institute at Athens. Published in a bilingual (Polish–English) edition, the book is the first volume in the “PIAA Kultura” series and highlights the achievements of women who have challenged stereotypes regarding the role of women in academia.

The interviewees include: Prof. Ewdoksia Papuci-Władyka, Prof. Marzena Szmyt, Dr. Zofia Stos-Gale, Prof. Agata Ulanowska, Dr. Stephanie Aulsebrook, Prof. Inga Głuszek, Prof. Bogumiła Kaniewska, and Prof. Véronique Chankowski.


The event will take place on May 8th 2026, at 6:00 p.m. (EEST) at the Research Centre in Cyprus PCMA UW (46 Georgiou Christophorou, 8046 Paphos). Online participation is possible via Zoom: link.
