International Training in Digital Archaeology concludes at PCMA UW

The international workshop *Training Course in Digital Archaeology for Early Career Scholars*, organized by the Polish Centre of Mediterranean Archaeology, University of Warsaw, concluded on 18 April 2025.

The course aimed to familiarize early career archaeologists and heritage professionals with state-of-the-art digital tools used in the documentation, analysis, and dissemination of archaeological sites and historical monuments.

Participants included representatives of academic, educational, and heritage management institutions from Armenia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Morocco, Sudan, and Syria, as well as staff members of the PCMA UW and other units of the University of Warsaw.

The program covered topics such as GIS, photogrammetry, spatial data acquisition, and RTI techniques. During the second week of the course, the participants focused on the practical aspects of generating spatial data and integrating it into GIS environments. They also took part in hands-on workshops on field documentation methods.

The workshop was coordinated by Adrian Chlebowski, head of the PCMA UW Digital Archaeology Unit. The teaching staff also included Dr Lorenzo de Lellis and Dr Piotr Zakrzewski from the PCMA UW.

The course was co-financed by the “Excellence Initiative – Research University” (IDUB) program at the University of Warsaw under Action V.4.2. It represented a significant step in the internationalization of the University’s activities, fostering the development of global research networks and contributing to the protection of cultural heritage.
