Dr. Mariusz Gwiazda receives Rector’s Distinction

On April 2, a ceremony at Kazimierzowski Palace marked the presentation of the Rector’s Distinctions of the University of Warsaw. Among this year’s recipients was Dr. Mariusz Gwiazda from the Polish Centre of Mediterranean Archaeology at the University of Warsaw.

The Rector’s Distinctions are awarded in recognition of outstanding contributions, including groundbreaking research and innovative development work that significantly enhance the University of Warsaw and uphold its finest academic traditions.

Dr. Mariusz Gwiazda is co-director of the The Berenike Project: Polish-American Archaeological Mission to Berenike. His research focuses on the Late Antique and Early Islamic periods in Egypt and the Middle East. He has received three grants from the National Science Centre, along with several other Polish and international grants and fellowships. In 2023, he published five solo-authored articles and co-authored four more.
