Save the date: “Poles on the Nile” archaeological conference

The annual “Poles on the Nile” conference on Polish archaeological research in Egypt and Sudan will be held on 21st–23rd June 2023 in hybrid mode. For the first time, all conference papers will be presented in English.

The event is co-organized by the Department of Egyptian and Nubian Archaeology, Faculty of Archaeology and the Department of African Studies, Polish Centre of Mediterranean Archaeology, University of Warsaw. During the three conference days, 30 papers on the results of the latest research by Polish projects operating in the field in Egypt and Sudan will be presented. Traditionally, the conference will also include presentations on recently defended PhD theses and habilitations.

The conference  will also feature a guest lecture on Thursday, 22.06, at 6pm Warsaw time (UTC+2): “Recent research and discoveries in the First Nile Cataract region: A collaboration between the Aswan-Kom Ombo Archaeological Project AKAP and the BORDERSCAPE Project.” It will be delivered by Prof. Maria Carmela Gatto of the Institute of Mediterranean and Oriental Cultures of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
