The sudden passing of Zbigniew Godziejewski, a conservator and long-term participant of PCMA UW fieldwork, is an irreparable loss for his friends and colleagues from the expeditions of which he was an indispensable part.
Zbigniew Godziejewski worked with us for over 30 years, beginning in the early 1990s when he participated in excavations at Palmyra. Soon, however, he devoted himself to conservation work in Egypt, first in Deir el-Bahari, where he participated in securing the remains of the temple of Tuthmosis III. However, he spent the most time – more than 15 seasons – in Saqqara, where he worked just a short time ago, during the most recent season in the autumn of last year.
