The PCMA welcomes new staff members – the team of dr Artur Obłuski’s ERC grant „UMMA – Urban Metamorphosis of the community of a Medieval African capital city”.
The team began work this June with a series of workshops focused on developing a documentation system for the new project. The project’s site recording system will be based on MoLAS (Museum of London Archaeology Service) standards, but it must be adapted for use at the particular site (Old Dongola in Sudan).
The ERC team is composed of archaeologists, epigraphers, documentalists and ceramologists, as well as a specialist in administration and finances. In the course of research they will be joined by numerous specialists in various scientific fields.
