On 21–22 of April 2016, the University of Warsaw will host an international conference “Life in Palmyra, life for Palmyra”. It is co-organized by the Institute of Archaeology, University of Warsaw and the Zygmunt Zaleski Foundation, in cooperation with the Polish Centre of Mediterranean Archaeology, University of Warsaw.
The conference program features presentations of over 30 leading specialists on Palmyrene studies. The scholars represent various international archaeological expeditions working in Palmyra, including a PCMA mission, as well as Syrian archaeologists specializing in this field.
The conference is dedicated to Khaled al As’ad, the late director of the Palmyra Museum. On this occasion, a lecture hall in the Institute of Archaeology, University of Warsaw, will be named after him.
