On 23 October 2013 Dr. Mahmoud El-Tayeb successfully completed the habilitation process at the Faculty of History of the University of Warsaw, receiving the title of Assistant Professor and opening the way to full professorship. Dr. El-Tayeb is a permanent staff member of the Polish Center of Mediterranean Archaeology since 2008. His habilitation book, Funerary Traditions in Nubian Early Makuria, was published in the African Reports series of the Gdańsk Archaeological Museum, in 2012.
