Exhibition presenting the results of PCMA excavations and conservation work in a mithreum in Hawarte (northern Syria) opens in the Archaeological Museum in Kraków.
Excavations of the underground cave, which was excavated by Prof. Michał Gawlikowski from the Institute of Archaeology, University of Warsaw, were followed by an extensive conservation program concerning the wall paintings, coordinated by Ewa Parandowska from the National Museum in Warsaw. Copies of the painted decoration on the walls and of some of the artifacts from the excavations are shown in the context of the history of the Mithraic cult.
The exhibition will be showing in the Archaeological Museum in Kraków, 3 Senacka street, from June 6 till September 2013
