PCMA Scholarship 2025/2026 – competition results

The results of the call for applications for the PCMA Scholarship in Egypt have now been announced. This year’s edition was held for the first time in a new format, with four separate scholarship programs:

  • Research residency at the PCMA UW Research Centre in Cairo
  • Scholarships for students and doctoral candidates *
  • Scholarship for students combined with a study tour
  • Scholarships carried out as part of an archaeological field expedition in Egypt

Detailed descriptions of each scholarship program can be found here.

The 12-month research residency scholarship was awarded to Dr Maciej Wacławik, who will carry out the project “1700 years from the foundations. Material evidence of the resolutions of the First Council of Nicaea in the Egyptian Church”. Dr Wacławik will also take part in the work of the Research Centre in Cairo, providing academic supervision over the scholarships awarded to students, as well as preparing lectures and other scholarly events at the Research Centre.

The full list of scholarships is available here: PDF.

The PCMA Scholarship is funded by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA).

* Due to the structure of applications received, the Scholarship Committee decided to award additional semester scholarships – for the winter and summer semesters – instead of the originally planned 10-month scholarship.
